I have to replace the lower pins on my disks. Anyone know the size nuts are used? I know they are bigger than 1" from past experience, anybody know? BTW - TSC has pins on sale for $2.25 right now. Thanks!

I have two sizes of category I threaded shanks on my equipment. The smaller and most common is 7/8" shank with a wrench size of 1 1/4" I also have some with a shank size of 1 1/8" and wrench size of 1 5/8"

Big ol' adjustable wrench has worked for me.

If your pins and/or tractor are made offshore you may have to use a metric adjustable..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Maybe they have wrenches on sale too, to fit your new pins. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The nuts on my box blade need an 1 3/8" wrench, the one I don't have. I do have an adjustable wrench that fits.

COnsider this your one excuse to but that big honkin monster adjustable wrench that you always loved when you were a kid. Lots of chrome. Great hammer too. The trick for me is holding the pin still while trying to unthread that big ol nut. The only way was by shoving something through the lynch pin hole which is pretty small. Maybe an impact wrench might do well here.

That's what I got, the big ol' honkin' Cresent...guaranteed to fit anything up to 2". There are lots of places it wont fit. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I use a larger tapered punch to hold the pin in place, about 10" sticking out of the hole to work with. Of course a spud wrench would work well too.

Pipe wrench on the pin, crescent on the nut.... If the pin is shot you could weld a "handle" on it to stop it turning. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif.The heat involved might even help to break it loose.

27mm and 30mm sockets are REAL HANDY sizes to have around, corresponding approximately to 1 1/8 and 1 1/4, but a MUCH better fit on just about everything that is made almost anywhere these days - are we in a Metric world yet ? (-:

1/2 inch drive if thats all you have, 3/4 inch preferrred.
Or should I say 12.7 and 19 ?
