Mowing Size rotary mower for 1320

Thanks for all the replies folks.
The cutting I was considering was basic weed cutting, usually much less than a foot tall.
As it turns out we bought the tractor. We actually have a 5 foot and a 4 foot cutter available, so we decided if it won't handle the 5 we'll be happy with the 4.

A friend of mine had bought a 72" rotary cutter "brush cutter" and we thought we would see how my 1320 would handle it. Pulled into his hay field with the grass being approx. 8-10" tall and cut it fine. This was not real dense growth though. As long as your tractor can maintain an rpm range to keep the cutter spinning at 540 rpm it will handle it! I have run my 5' finish mower through stuff that I should have had a brush cutter for, i.e. tall heavy grass, and it worked fine.

Anyone have the scoop on the ? 1210? is it ( or is it 1220? )

Anyway, also, what are the big differences on the 10/20 series? 4wd?

Anyway, my buddy has a 1210, ( bought new in 85 with a ford 4' rotary cutter ) It is ok in grass/weeds up to about 8" but anything else bogs it down.

I thought I might reply to this thread for the archives. A year later, I would say that the 1320 can spin the 5 footer okay but it's a big old 5 footer and it sometimes seems like the tail is wagging the dog.

I would add that the 1320 is one heckuva impressive tractor for a 20HP unit. There is definitely something to be said for more mass as well as more HP.
