Does NH make a skid plate for a TC 40DA? I will call the dealer, but of course, I always turn to TBN for real answers!

If by skid plate, you are referring to a "belly pan", then no, NH does not have one available. If this is what you need, a good welding shop can fab one from plate steel very easily, and fairly inexpensively.

I'm not aware of one. Maybe some of the other class III Boomer guys will know..... Jinman ? Pineridge ? haveblue?

I have often thought about fabricating one for my TC-35D. I believe the support arms that run from the FEL mount brackets to the rear axles would be perfect. I would cut 2x2 angle into 2 inch long pieces. Weld these to the inside of the arms with one plane of the angle flat relative to the ground. Then drill holes into this leg of the angle and weld nuts on top of the legs. This way you could take a piece of plate steel and bolt it againt the support arms. Of course you would need quarter inch steel plate, which would be heavy. I would probably make the plates in sections to span the supports arms and only make them about 2 feet long. This is only something I thought about the last time I was under my tractor giving it a good grease job. This is about project 200 on my list. Of course this does not count the wife's project list where it is about project 2000. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I've thought along those lines. Unless you want to be taking the thing off and on a lot, be sure to leave access for oil changes and such when you design it. I have a very light one on my old Cadet and it gets annoying sometimes.

The skid plate will also add some weight down low where you want it. I intend to check out my DX 29's undersides with this in mind since I mostly use the tractor in the woods. Of course, the oil pan may be fairly heavy and not need a skid plate, too.

My FIL's old WD-45 has a very large dent in the pan from hanging over the side of the barn bank one day long ago. When it didn't fall all the way off, he just left it there while running machinery in the barn from the belt drive! I was going to fix it when I was getting the tractor up and running again but he told me the story of how it got there, so I figured it was an heirloom dent and left it. That oil pan is made of some pretty heavy steel and it would have been a serious chore to fix it anyways. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bob if you're going to design a skid pan for your new 40DA maybe you should wrap it up around the back to protect that plastic fuel tank too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder if all Ohioans have great minds like ours? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I met an Ohioan last weekend. The answer is yes, they all have great minds.

I made one for my 45 -- have pics on the home computer --- but I'm at the office right now -- will try to post 'em later this eve if the wife isn't still working. She's working from home today and typically works til late when she does.

Thanks for posting them (when time permits).

If I remember correctly Mike's design is pretty nice. Believe it's held on with some U-bolts over the BH sub-frame. It should add bullet-proofing for working in the woods.
