Don't worry about that 'part obsolete' message. The skidplates are a wholegoods bundle thst the dealer orders through sales, not parts. So the part number will show up as invalid in JDParts. You can't order an MX Cutter there, either!

I am still amazed they don't offer one for the 3x20's. Sometimes Deere really seems out of touch.

I don't know how this might matter, but the skid plates for the 4x10's were actually the main componant of the 'Rental Upgrade Kit'. The kit also includes a 'C' range lockout and blanks to cover unwanted switches. Of course, none of that stuff gets installed on non-rental equipment.

Maybe Deere is not going after the rental market... Or maybe the high cost of steel is affecting the break even in offering them. It would be interesting to see how many tbn owners actually have the skid plates, and we are probably far higher in the percentage that do than the average owners...

Once everyone finds an option I think I will add these to my 3320. Definately a vulnerable spot on the deere. I am anxiously awaiting to see what fits. Thanks for any input.

They are on order and hopefully will arrive this week. If so then maybe I will get a chance to try them this weekend. I will post the results. Not looking forward to putting them on in my gravel driveway wish my shop was clear...

Hey slavetoHorses, pick up a piece of 1/2" MDF and throw that down and use that with a creeper or just the old backside. Will be much more convienent/comfortable. Price is $10 for 4X8 sheet or so.

Just got the plate kit!
Got a call from the parts folks telling me the spare belt and blades I wanted for my chipper arrived so I called the sales guy to see if maybe the skid plates arrived. They had, just then. What timing, eh?
I am hoping to finish the customizations for my ballast box friday night, then I should have time to try the plates this weekend.

Mike, good idea about the plywood. I have an old rubber pickup bed liner that I am going to lay down under the tractor.

I had the pleasure I going to Augusta and test driving/ meeting w/ the engineers on the 110, 4x20 and the 5x25.
I wanted the factory armor kit and was told by the engineers they only sold 70+- for all the 4x10's from the factory so it was not being offered on the new 4X20's. That was March of 2005.

The armor kit we talked about was only protection for the rams on the loaders- no belly pans??

They suggested I talk w/GR Manufacturing in AL, I did and they do not have a armor kit so I had a full length belly pan made. Great coverage except for the hyro ram used for the steering. It even protects the filter under the right side tire.

Yeah there were two kits. That was Xtra Armor for the hood, loader, etc. The other was the Rental Upgrade Kit which included the belly armor. The Xtra Armor was expensive, beefy, ugly, cool. I don't know if you could order just the loader cylinder protection, which would have been nice, but the hood protector semed like overkill, if there is something that is gonna hurt the stock hood, you are in deep doo doo.
