Hi Jim,
I did receive my thumb and skidplate from Richard last week and he sent me the installation instructions online. He is absolutely wonderful to deal with, answered all my questions, and was prompt with shipping.
The skidplate is heavy duty and quality made. I can see a lot of thought has gone into producing it for the BX. I have not installed it yet as I decided to paint it to match the Kubota frame color from the lighter grey color it arrived with.
When I removed the thumb from the packaging, I noticed the paint on the side plates and arm were scratched in a couple places, probably from shipping. I also saw that the teeth on the arm are not cut even and have welds (possibly to harden ?) making it look not finished. I decided that I was being too critical for something meant to be abused picking up rocks, etc.
I did repaint the side plates and did a dry fit and found the bolts stuck out some beyond the nuts. I was worried that the threads might get messed up when digging so I replaced the bolts with ones 1/2 inch shorter which seems the perfect length.
So, I haven't finished installing it or had the chance to use it yet. It has the advantage of being adjustable using the toplink, however, the spacers, pin, and toplink can't be folded with the unit when not in use possibly a disadvantage if out on a jobsite without them. I think it is a well designed piece and will suit what I need with my BX. I will try to post some pics when I finish installing.
