I have the same blade and use it for dirt and snow removal, get the shoes you won't regret it.

Are there aftermarket shoes that can be fitted to any blade?

Without welding?

I've lived 15 yrs w/o shoes, but maybe I've just been missing out while barefoot blading my drive.

5" of snow on the way tomorrow and new tractor arrives tonight. I'll be barefoot blading tomorrow for sure.

Sort of like having a top & tilt set, lots of people get by just fine without, but once you have it, you wouldn't be without it again. Same goes for having the float feature with your rear remotes and the top & tilt set. A whole new dimension of getting tasks done opens up.

I tell people all the time when asked when "do I really need that?" the answer is almost always, "no you do not have to have that", but life sure is easier with it. ;)

My recommendation would be to take a look at different rear blades that offer skid shoes and when you find some that look like it will work, buy it. All of the skid shoe options that I have seen bolt on, so you should only need to drill some holes in your blade and bolt the mount on.

There are some pretty big price differences, but then you typically get what you pay for.

I bought an RBT3596 this fall and got the shoes. I don't like them for plowing on my gravel driveway. But reading these posts it sounds like they may be useful for other stuff.

I want to add something, just need to decide to go with skid shoes or go all the way to a gauge wheel. At one point I did some light snow removal with the rear blade, but haven't done that at all for 3 or 4 years. Just dirt/gravel work with that blade probably from now on.

Here is a picture of my blade with the shoes.
