Rotary Cutter Skid Steer Brush Cutter - Brush Cat Vs. MTL XC7

Looking to pickup a brush cutter for my Bobcat 763 High Flow. We have 10 acres that we looking to clear for 2 home lots. Not terribly overgrown or thick but certainly a lot of small trees and brush.

Local Bob Cat dealer has a used 2014 66" Brush Cat 2-Motors/Blades with High Flow for $3900

Or looking at a New MTL XC7 3-Blade. Both are basically the same price.

Wondering what the better option is for hammering down to do some property clearing. Also the MTL is ~1400 lbs, the 763 is rated at 1500lb lift capacity... is that going to be Okay?

Sounds like a rental item to me. Should be able to clean two lots in a day or two.

You might want to rent one. In a weekend you can get alot of work done. The rental will be much cheaper than buying anything. Also, by renting you can see if your machine will be able to power the mower effectively and handle the mower's weight.

I have looked at both mowers. The Brush Cat I like because it has a floating deck and a rear roller. This mower follows the contour of the ground without alot of operator adjustments to prevent gouging the ground. It can handle up to 3" material. I would also look at Jenkins iron and Steel. They are made in Minnesota. They are similar to the Brush Cat. They have a floating deck, rear roller and an option for front wheels. This mower looks like it is built nicely. They range between $4,000 and $5,400. The MTL I have only seen some videos, but they look impressive.

I used a high flow brush cat for a month and thought it was an amazing mower. It could cut brush all day. I cut some lawn with it and with sharp blades did a beautiful job. I like the floating deck much better than the basic brush cutters.
