I am looking at buying a 1992 New Holland L785 skid steer with about 3000 hrs. on it.It seems to be in good shape but when I turn left or right it makes a very loud groaning noise.Does anyone have any idea what would cause this noise and is it something to be concerned about? This is my first skid steer and I'm not that familiar with them.

I wish that I could hear the noise to know for sure. It is likely the typical hydrostatic transmission howl/moan/groan inherent with fluid drive. Imagine hearing that noise echoing around inside the cab of an old International Hydro tractor all day long!
You may want to have a friend who has skid steer knowledge come along and run it.
