I have bought a plate in the past off ebay but it was a while back. Apparently they have a new policy of not saving things older than a year or two. Thanks a bunch! I would prefer a US made source but all I see is people saying "US shipping" which of course means they bought a container of Chinese crap and ship from here since they got it. Does anyone have a decent source for a plate that is US made but won't cost $1k? Prob looking for 5/16" thickness.

Thanks!
Dave

The closest thing would be to have a local fabricator make one for you. As much as I’d love American made products, sometimes it’s a matter of cost.

I picked up a plate from an All States Ag Parts store somewhat nearby and it was made by Blue Diamond Equipment. I welded it on to a pallet fork frame I had on my old tractor that was a direct pin on mount. I have no complaints on the plate, I believe it was made in the US according to their website.

Seems like some fab shops make plates up in spare time Local metal supplier/fab shop does them up in batches. 5/16 and 3/8 are available. The 5/16 was about $225 CDN. Upside, they have it in stock.

I have bought a couple of ss plates on ebay as well as making a couple by myself. All worked well.

Blue Diamond is a good outfit, I have a tooth bucket and dozer blade from them.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I'll look into these more. I saw several like the one davedj1 posted that say "US Ship!!!!" Which is another way of saying Made in China.

Try your local Bobcat or skidsteer dealer. That’s where I got my plates when I converted my large tractor to ssqa over 25 years ago so I could use grapples. First plates were $55 and converted many pieces of equipment. Last plate was $120 a few years ago. Well made, no junk and perfect fit.

I've ordered several from these guys off eBay. Made in USA. They have always fit and locked up tight on my Kubota.

I have thought a capstan winch would be handy, simple, and not as expensive as a 3pt logging winch..

The reason being I have several 30 meter (about 150 foot) roofers master safety ropes..
They are incredibly strong and when they expire, up here they are garage sale cheap..

My main concern with a homemade, pto capstan is getting an appropriate ratio gear box...
What is available ?? What is a good ratio to use for say a 4 or 6" diameter capstan..??

Forgot to ask... What is an appropriate rpm for a 4 or 6" capstan ?? ??
