Skid steer project

A buddy of mine and I were so amazed by the homebuilt skid loader that Chrisk built that we are wanting to attempt the same project. Have any of you done this before, know anyone who has, or have any info on the subject?

Why don't u try get in touch with chrisk. He seems to be the only person on this forum who has built one and by the looks of it he is a very good fella to ask.Are you building it out of necessity or just like the idea of building one?

I love the idea of building one. Also, I own a landscaping company and am in the need of one. I was hoping someone could help.

You might ask Muhammad if he could send an e-mail to him asking him to contact you. I believe Muhammad has all the e-mail addys, but had to remove them from the site due to unauthorized harvesting of same. It's worth asking him. John

i am in the process of building one just for the fun with my spare time. Unfortunately, all my "SPARE TIME" are taken up by better half with projects around the house.
I am building a mini-version, one that can fit thru 36" of space and about 52 inches long. ( chassis only ) without the front end loader. It is going to be a modular design that I can attach various attachments to it, including a backhoe, frontend loader, and a snow thrower. It is powered by a 13 hp honda motor. The chassis is build with 2x2 1/8 tubing with 18" wheel and chain drive with 2 hydraulic motors. I will keep you posted. I am also putting a 5 wheel option with steering so when I work on the yard with it, it does not chew up the lawn. I have also tried contacting chris but without luck. All the metals are from scraps lying around, so some of the design may look a little strange. feel free to contact me any time by email candubob@sympatico.ca

It's been on my mind for a long time to build one too. I am in the process of collecting all the junk, oops components needed for assembly. My idea is to use two steering axles out of pickups shortened to narrow it up and provide steering instead of skidding around corners. I picked up a motor/transmission out of a suzuki swift that looked ideal but when I got it home[complete car] my kids got it to drive around the fields and don't want to give it up. I may have to find another one. Hydraulic pumps and such are being provided by an old tractor that had an engine fire that destroyed it. I want to use it mostly to dump feed into drivethrough mangers in the barn along with plenty of other chores. If I ever get to the point of actually getting started on it.

Finally found three weeks to complete the skid load. All made of scrap metal lying around except for the bucket. I ran out of angles and have to buy some. Here is the picture. More details later. Total hours about 100 hours.
