We been looking at a compact tractors for trail clearing and yard maintenance and one fellow said "just get a skid steer". This was parked at a camp site we stay at over the weekend. Its drive sprocket and tracks sure looked shot to me.

The woods is especially hard on equipment even with a cautious operator.
Operation in a yard or other almost confined space takes a seasoned operator who's developed the necessary spacial "radar" as visibility is poor to the sides. Nothing to the rear unless it's got a camera, even then your looking at screen.
The average mid to large frame SS is going to need a 14k trailer and a ton truck to move it around and if you have an active DOT type crew locally..... the joy is just starting. 😆
They Excell for grading and other maintenance, but again it up to the skill of the operator and that'll take quite a few tanks of fuel.

Yes, it’s pretty close to needing new sprockets and most likely a set of tracks. Can’t tell what the idler and rollers look like.

When the sprocket teeth looked hooked like that, I'd bet $20 the tracks are gone.

A 2500 truck or a 3500 single wheel truck with a 14k trailer should be able to legally move a Kubota 75 or equivalent without a CDL.

I was referencing tie down, roadside inspection, fire extinguishers, reflective triangles, spare fuses and the rest of the stuff that a inspection officer that got out of the wrong side of the bed can throw at you.

Anything over a 9999 trailer can trigger CDL

Cat 289d specs on line say 10,533 lbs just for the CTL alone.

The guys who did forestry mulching for me last year said their Cat CTL + forestry mulching head weighed about 15,000 lbs. Replacing the tracks cost about $5,000. Can't recall how many thousands it cost to replace the carbide teeth on the mulcher.
