Measure your cut lengths off in shorter sections that you can move easier, more trips involved, cleaner wood, personally, i wouldn't be deterred by a little dirt.

Your calculations may be a bit off.How big of an oak log are you talkin'?
The internet says (so it must be true) that Oak has a density of around 45 lb/ cu. ft.
A 2' diameter log is going to weigh about 141 lbs/ linear ft.
A 20' log of this diameter will weigh about 2800 lbs. ( -so make sure you use 3/4" plywood vs 3/8" when you make your bogie wheels.)
Sometimes... but not always.Lol don't they get dirt on them when they fall?
Not unless they are falling in mud holes. I don't like working in mud holes so that's usually a non existent problem.Lol don't they get dirt on them when they fall? If you have a loader just cutter small enough to fit in the bucket
Uhhhhh...... and have a massive pile of slash on my landing where I'm trying to cut? No thanks! Maybe if I have my chipper parked right there.
