Thinking about buying a stump grinder for the CAT 287C for bigger stumps and hopefully would be less stressful to the machine and mulcher. Whats your thoughts ?

cat stump grinder sg16, I think, works fine.

I ran a sg 18 on my 297c worked fine. Go down to your local cat rental store a try one out.

It was the CAT sg18 that I had. I really liked it but when I bought a Bobcat, it wasn't easily compatible. For the size, i thought that grinder had a lot of torque. It was super light, easy to see, and telescoped. Very cool. I modified it to ad a rubber chip deflector but other than that, CAT had a solid grinder. I like it a lot more than the Bobcat big boxy one.

I think FAE has a stump grinder out. I have been happy with FAE built products.
