Skunk in the yard at supper time

Thinking that "man" is outside of nature misses a lot of history.

Now your talking like a Yankee not a Southerner! Lets get back to skunks before this gets stinky. (Not that anyone has raised their tail yet...)

I think at some point in the past it was a fad to remove the scent glands and keep them as pets. Maybe in the 60's?

Agree, the idea that man is outside of nature is one of the worst misconceptions of the modern age.

I was speaking of nature as being what we call the natural world--the earth and animals that are still existing and living in their natural way. Versus man, that unique and god-like being, who supposedly was raised by God himself above all the rest of creation (not that I necessarily buy into that). In fact, most people are completely sundered from the natural world, incapable of even surviving on their own. So practically, most people live their entire lives "outside of nature." How long this can last, we'll see.

Hey, I'm from Alabama. But I like to think about stuff when I'm not making biscuits or chopping wood. (Making good biscuits without a recipe is genetic BTW. You're either born with it or you're not. I thank the Lord I was born with it.) :)

It's true. We have a center cimney cape. There's 3 fire places. It was built around 1790, and is about about 15x15ft of hans hand made brick. Once it gets hot it stays hot for a couple days

It has an intact bee-hive oven. My wife, who is an excellent cook, has produced at least 8 sets of inedible biscuits in that oven! It's her nemisis.

I have never had one "go off" in a live trap.. they are easy to catch with "tuna in oil"

Transport is easy, simply cover them,,

A short ride into the woods, out of neighbors hearing distance,, then, TARGET PRACTICE!!

Some people simply set the entire trap into a creek, I have never tried that,,,

At the risk of getting people mad, I think that's awful.

I can make 'em over a backwoods campfire. It's not her fault, like I said, it's genetic. :)

Your house sounds amazing....

Now this is one animal that I wish I could live trap and relocate to my boss’s neighborhood. I don’t have skunks, dang it anyway.
