Am I hearing this correctly. You are saying there is a synchronous shuttle shift which requires no manual clutching to change the shuttle shift from reverse to forward or vice versa, and there is a power shuttle shift that does require you to have to clutch manually with the foot clutch when you change from forward to reverse or vice versa?
You have that turned around. It is easy to do with so many different versions.
Powershuttle = you don't have to clutch to change directions.
Synchro-shuttle = you have to clutch to change directions.
Here is a link to where I did a write up on the different manual transmission.

OK, now I understand the difference between power shuttle and synchronous shuttle. But it brings me to ask another question. What is the point of the synchronous shuttle, I thought the big value added for a shuttle was so you could change directions without clutching. So I see the value of power shuttle, but I don't see any advantage to a synchronous shuttle. What is the point of it if you have to clutch to change directions, why not just use the gear shift lever if you have to clutch anyway, why throw another lever in the mix. I don't mean to ignorant, but I don't see any value added with the synchronous shuttle. Thanks for everyones help getting me through this confusion.

even though you have to press clutch for synchro shuttle, it is much faster than coming to complete stop and changing gears, lets say from 4 low to reverse and backing up then stopping shift out of reverse and find 4 low again. the synchro shuttle can be shifted while still slightly moving and clutch depressed. if you do a lot of loader work the power or hydro shuttle would be worth the price. ( synchro shuttle is usually base shuttle option and in TD line the only option).

Synchronous shuttle was a huge step forward in transmission design. It makes driving tractors and changing gear so much easier. With a non syncroed transmission you either have to try to bump it in to gear really quickly, grind the gears until they slot together, come to a stop to change gear or change gear without using the clutch and match the engine speed to the wheels.

Syncro makes this much easier as you can change gear like in a car.

synch shuttle shift is cheaper and more cost effective in some cases...it uses a dry clutch

PS is more expensive and uses a wet clutch...its handy for loader work or any application where youre going to do lots of direction changes. Then again wet clutches tend to last longer and that might be a reason in itself to get a PS transmission.
