Sleeve hitch for 2554?

Wow, thanks guys!

The CC factory hitch does look heavier but it doesn't mount the way I assumed it would. No problem, it's just different than I thought it would be. It's nice that it provides a new fixed hitch point too.

I have welding and fabrication equipment but the problem is always finding small quantities of the needed steel to build anything. Everyone will sell you long lenghts of tubing and large sheets of plate but it's hard to buy small pieces.

Does anyone have the manufacturers P/N for the electric actuators used on either hitch? They also look like their different between the hitches.

Go to the photo tab and drill down to Other,Cub cadet, page 5. I posted photos of my 2544 with the ebay hitch after I had altered it from the original. Worked out great and I use it often with my aftermarket scraper from lowe's. (AGRA fab or brinley). Not terribly complicated to alter. I have plans for either welded or drilled and bolted which uses the least amount of fabrication equip.

CC you're right, I like the Cub sleeve better, it does look beefier.

The actuator is from Warner Electric. Could not find thier part #. It is 12" O.C. from pin to pin, closed. Extension is 4". Not sure of the lift capacity, it lifts the tiller no sweat. Not sure what the tiller weights but it is one extremely heavy SOB!!! I have Liquid in both front wheels, and two suite case weights up front and with the tiller lifted the unit can still be a little floaty up front.

One thing to take note of, and to think about if you are building your own ... take a look at the mounting location of the stock CC actuator and the aftermarket one. The CC bracket puts the top pin of the actuator quite a bit higher. This in turn puts the entire actuator in a more verticle plain and lifts closer to straight up.

If anyone wants to drive to west Michigan ... come on over and have a look.
