I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but if there is a bolt currently through the splined shaft that comes out of the gear box on the tiller. I am assuming that is the bolt you use to hold the slip clutch onto that splined shaft. The bolt would need to be taken out, then put the clutch on and line up the holes in the clutch with the holes in the splined shaft and put the bolt back in and tighten securely. Of course, without seeing what you have there, I am doing a lot of assuming. A picture would help.

thanks for the reply.. the shaft that comes out of the tiller is just like the pto shaft that comes out of the tractor...but the pin works just like the end that connects to the tractor only it has a threaded rod with a lock nut that holds it in place on the tiller out put shaft...i just cant get anything to move but the lock nut ...sorry for the confusion,,i really have no idea about this thing..all i have ever had on other equipment is a shear pin and it hooked up normal... i must be getting old ,,,,thanks bruce

ok.. from what you are saying, you have a slip clutch with one end on the implement gearbox.. those ends are splined ends, and there is a bolt that goes thru it with a locknut on it to keep them together.. sounds like you got the nut off.. but the bolt won't come out?? am I correct so far?

put the nut back on, but not all the way.. now tap on it after spraying with penetrating oil.. the bolt is lickley just rusted into the bore.

if this is the issue, post back and let us know.

once you get the bolt out.. you may find the splines are rusty too.. ( more oil! )
