Slow Down, Move Over Video-It's the LAW!

Maybe drifting OT here, but this discussion reminded me of this:

The Senior Driver

As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang.
Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I
just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on 280.
Please be careful!"

"****," said Herman, "It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!"

************************************************

I wonder if I'll be self-aware enough, when the time comes, to know when I am no longer competent to drive...and give it up willingly.

You would hate South Florida, people might as well start buying bumper cars.
BigCountry, I thought of your comment when I saw this comic today:
The Devil's Panties - 12/22/216

In Canada, there is a lot of argument over whose drivers are the worst. I lean toward Montreal, but there is a lot of craziness anywhere folks get behind the wheel of a vehicle.

I have found that in Montreal, the car drivers will cut you off, but they are doing about 80mph and so get out of your way in a hurry. Also in Montreal, if you put your signal on they (the drivers of cars) will make a hole for you.

Now Toronto is a 'horse of a different colour', you will get cut off then they (the drivers of cars) will pile on the brakes. When they see you put your signal on, they will move into the space you were looking to get to and block you from getting there. they will sit beside you whether or not your signal is flashing until you use your size to squeeze them over or out of your way.
I absolutely hate driving anywhere near Toronto. Also, in Toronto if you want to get from the east end to the west end (Ajax to Milton) you had better do it at 2-5 in the morning.

Well I guess we now know where people in Montreal and Toronto go to retire............South Florida

We have a healthy mix of both those type of drivers, then add in the lady in the Mercedes who drives 40 miles with her right turn signal on then turns left.

Cant wait for flying cars then the issues with bad drivers will be settled faster.

Northerners go to S. Florida to die. ;)

I just got home. Coming home along a dark two lane highway, first an Ambulance came up from behind. A short while later, I came up to an accident scene. It was in the other lane, and my lane was open. There had to be ten emergency vehicles with maybe thirty high power strobes. I was blinded, and although I was going very slow, just about ran into a cop dressed in clothing more suitable for a Navy Seal. Driving though salt all day, didn't help my visibility.

I told the cop, I couldn't see him on account of being blinded by all the lights. He said "Tough". I said, yeah for you, if you get hit!

Now, wouldn't it make a heck of a lot more sense, if they parked two brightly lit vehicles some distance in each direction from the scene and just had running lights on the other vehicles?

My AAA Texas bi-monthly magazine for January/February 2017 came in the mail yesterday. There's a short article on Page 4 by one of their vice-presidents, Rhonda Wilson, in which she says the International Towing and Recovery Museum recently had a somber ceremony in Chattanooga, TN. She says they added 22 more names to the "Wall of the Fallen", a memorial that honors towing operators around the country who have died in the line of service. Since this ceremony started 10 years ago, the Wall has listed the names of more than 400 men and women who paid the ultimate price in serving stranded motorists.

I didn't know such a museum even existed, although if I remember right, Chattanooga is where many wreckers are built.

That would make more sense but then they couldn't whinge and belly ache about car drivers running them over.

I think you should consider getting off the roads... If you are among the small percentage of people that can't get onboard with the concept.

Those people with bright lights are working. Their "office" is wherever they happen to be stuck on a scene at that moment. Their jobs are to protect us all (everyone, all walks of life and intelligence levels) and then clean up the messes when we do stupid things. (Not an easy job considering how many stupid people are out there). You might not like emergency workers (seems like you have a lack of respect for them anyhow) and you may not like the laws... But you probably wouldn't want anybody driving thru your cubicle, or buzzing your tower wherever you park your butt while on the clock either.

Their safety is more important than your convenience. You're not that special...

Not attacking you personally... This is how we all should look at it.

No it makes the most sense to surround the scene with big bulky vehicles so idiots dont run into us or the victim. If we have minimal light we get hit and the excuse is "we didnt see you", we have to many lights its " we cant see you". There is no making you people happy, its getting to be where I hate even going to work anymore. God help all of you when we quit. You think when were thre we are just sitting with a thumb up are a**, but maybe we just got done washing someones blood off our hands........ Sorry we inconvienence your little world. Sorry to be so rude but its getting tiring, every day listening to whining for the stupidest stuff.

"That would make more sense but then they couldn't whinge and belly ache about car drivers running them over. "

And this genius isnt even worth arguing with....
