Anyone ever heard of this? Father-in-law is wanting to make one. He remembers as a kid that a neighbor had a device in the creek that would slowly catch water then the weight of the water would cause it to tip and strike a plow disc. At that point the water would drain and it would tip back to collecting water again. (Reminds me of the water drinking bird a great aunt had many moons ago.)

I'm guessing it was a warning of sorts for slow or no water flow??? Any one ever heard or seen such a thing? It may not be called a Slow John but that's what my FIL remembers.

Thanks,
Jeff

Well, gotta admit, I've not heard of that unit.

It's quite possible it was just this man's "invention" and was one-of-a-kind.
