To add to Birds post the "slime" type product is not fix a flat which is only good for that particular leak and, as Bird said, also uses a propellent of propane, hence the danger. To answer Westbilly the answer is 1. a tractor tire doesn't need to be balanced due to the low speeds and the product stays liquid and so self disperses evenly around the tire as you drive. Even though the balance isn't a factor for tractors it would be for cars. Since this product is designed to be put in car tires too I suspect the balance issue isn't. The main reason I like it is it not only fixes that leak it also fixes future leaks. Putting it in took about 5 minutes per tire if you use the pump it comes with (like a ketchup pump with a plastic tube on the end that goes over the valve stem). Just take the valve stem out, wait for the air to stop coming out and start pumping in. The stuff from gemplers looks like pepto bismal with a little thicker consistency.

I was at Quality Farm & Family this weekend and they have Slime @ $39.95 gallon jug or in smaller 16 oz. plastic bottles for $5.99 each...

Thorns are insidious, they continue to work their way through the tire. The cheapest cure for thorns, (and cactus) is a dedicated tire sealant, (you could have the tires foamed but it's expensive). I'll bet your slow leak problem is not over.

Can these "slime" type products be used in tires that are filled/weighted? I would think not, but, ya never know..

Gemplers 1 gal $32.95, 5 gal pail $109.00 + shipping. http://www.gemplers.com/cgi-bin/sgd...htm&SITEID=n6w/MCqJB40-V/hmacStfZl35MP9tggIBQ

Yopu can use it in weighted tires if by weighted you mean with steel weights. You can't use it on loaded ie liquid ballast tires since the liquid is already in the tires and I don't think the sealant is designed to mix with the calcium chloride. I think it even says so on the container if my memory serves....

The Slime website also mentions issues related to tires that are already filled.

Thanks Gerard,

Yes, I was talking about "liquid ballast", but, wasn't very articulate last night...

Here is the slime web page that Mike mentioned in his post...

Just read an article in a farming magazine that was about "Multi seal", a brand of tire seal I haven't personally used but it said it was designed to be used in ca cl filled tires and will seal up to a 1/2 inch hole. Website is supposed to be www.multiseal.com
