Slowing up the BX - HST pedal sticking revisited.

Thanks Stephen and Watersjj. What I will do is get the dealer's take on the issue (at a later date… the snow arrived as scheduled). If Kubota does not have a definitive solution, I will remove the damper. It's not that I want the higher speed returned, it's only that I fear that I found only a temporary solution (by reducing the pedal movement), rather than the final solution.

I took my BX back to the dealer and they welded a grease point on the shaft under the tractor.

vtliving2; Do you know if this is a solution that they deduced, or if it was directed by a Service Bulletin? I am hoping that Kubota found a fix.

NEVER MIND… I just called my dealer (what I should of done in the first place!) There is an SB for the HST pedal! They are going to do the work next Tuesday. The official fix is to place a grease fitting on the rocker arm… so it looks like they are following Stephen's solution.

Can anyone get the details on the SB? I'd like to at least know the serial numbers affected so that I know whether or not my BX is in on this. Thanks!

Charliebrn; Since my dealer's Service Manager never asked me what the serial number was, or when it was purchased, I have to assume all units. That, added with him mentioning that one of the mechanics just attended a class last week in Atlanta to learn the procedure, tells me that this is fresh out-of-the-gate. Call your dealer.

The BX was picked up yesterday morning, returned today. Grease fitting installed on the HST pedal. If you look down on the pedal from the driver's view, running off the left side of the HST pedal, there is a horizontal shaft. That is where they place the fitting, about 1" from the base of the pedal.

Now, this is where I failed to follow-up. Due to a crunch, I was in the office 6 A to 8:30 P yesterday, I never found out what the Service Bulletin ID is. Will it solve the problem? Only time will tell. Will say this, a quick spin shows me that the pedal responds better than it ever has, even when it was new.

Sounds like your problem has been nipped in the bud. When I mentioned it to my dealer, he said he hadn't even seen a SB on this. He said he'd look into it. Sure would like to see that SB, though. Did you have a chance to see whether they made any other changes besides the grease fitting? The cylinder, etc all still the same???

Thanks for the heads up on this!

Tonight on my way home from boringville, I mean work
I stopped by the local Kubota dealer. The store was closed but I did get to take a peek at a new BX1800 on the lot.
I noticed that it had a zerk as Roy mentioned. So something is
going on, maybe all dealer have not been noticed or they
are putting this on directly from the factory.
Here's my question.

Service Bulletins. What if the machine has to be returned to the dealer for installation, who pays for this? Do I have to get the machine to them or do they (the dealer) come and get it. I assume some SB could be done in the field others
might require a machnine shop and or specific tools. This SB
looks as those it could be done in the field. So before I call
I'd like to know what the "SOP" is on apply Service Bulletins.

Thanks

Roy,
Glad they fix the promblem.
Did they mention what type of grease you should use.
For a thicker grease during cold weather you may fine the pedal sticking a little.
