While you are at it, on the bottom of the bell housing, there should be a cotter pin hanging thru a hole. The cotter pin is designed to keep the hole open in the event of water or oil getting in there. It keeps the clutch and stuff "clean".
Wiggle the cotter pin to make sure the hole is not plugged.
If no cotter pin, insert as wire to drain the bell housing.
