Checked the trans fluid at the full plug it looked ok, but I still drained it and it was about 1/2 water instead of oil, it now starts moving as soon as i start it, The guy I bought this backhoe from said he changed all the filters but looks like not the fluids, the main hydo system was over half water also. changed it also. thanks for all your help

Still having trouble with it moving at first start up the parts layout shows a filter in the shuttle shift area I was told that if water was in the system the the filter would be glazed over causing the trouble and possibly the bump is going bad. Any one know if the filter in the shuttle pick up can be changed with out parting the tractor? This is not the filter behind the grill.

Well I have broken the machine apart and found a paper type filter in stead of a screen in the pickup housing, it was full of junk, next the clutches are so bad that the tractor prats supplier in my area never saw any that badly burned, the Torque converter rattles, the out side of the pump the shaft that the converter goes on is badly scared. So I am having to replace just about all of the parts in the shuttle shift. I also found out why the person I got the machine from had trans locked in 1st gear. the shift ring for 2nd and 4th is missing. One thing that videos do not show or tell you when you go to take the valve body out of the trans that you must remove the two tubes going to the large connectors for the lines to the external filter, I ended up bending one of them before I realized that they had to come out first. Most of the info on breaking this unit apart are missing many key items of information.

Also I found out that all of the repairs would not have been needed if I had only broke it apart and took the pick up screen out and cleaned it it was completely plugged. It also showed signs that it had been back flushed several time s since the inside of the screen was about 1/4 full of junk that could only have gotten into it by back flushing the system which appears to be a quick but shot time fix. If you think your pick up screen it plugged it is cheaper to brake the machine apart and clean it properly It is located just behind the valve body and can only gotten too by taking the valve body off.
