I took an old steel 5 gallon gas tank and punched a small hole in the side at the bottom, then took a brass 1/8" barb screw in fitting and wiggled it in the hole, then soldered it with a heavy duty electric soldering iron.whenever I need to use my generator (when the house electric goes off) I put the can on a couple blocks and run a plastic line from the can to the generator.as the generator only has a gallon tank on itself.the can, can be several feet away from the running generator and I can keep it full.Back in the great ice storm of 1990 I ran it for 2 weeks with only shutting it off to check the oil.
