My husband is at work right now, but wanted me to post this hoping you all would have some kind of insight to help him:

We have a TC33DA, bought in spring of 2004. It came "factory ready" with a FEL (14LA) already on it, and is a 4WD with hydrostat transmission.

A while back, a little black hose connector busted on the tractor and hydraulic fluid just flew everywhere. (Sorry, but he forgot to tell me what the technical name for that connector was, and I forgot to ask).

The machine was still under warranty, so the dealer gave him two of those little hose connector things and told him to replace both the one that busted and the one that did not.

At the same time, he replaced the small hydraulic filter -- the one that is mounted on the side of the engine block.

Then he poured about five gallons of hydraulic fluid into the machine, and the puppy was back on her feet.

Everything went well for a few hours of usage, then I started seeing hydraulic fluid spraying all over the place again. I shut the machine down and he came out to see it.

The seal on the small hydraulic filter that he had just put on it the day before had blown.

So he bought another filter and went to replacing it. He says (and I quote) "the hydraulic oil was applied to the filter as advised in the manual before it was installed."

And this time, he bought some kind of special tool to tighten the filter up with.

It ran pretty good for about 30 more hours.

Then, this morning, I got out there on the tractor to move some compost around, and before I had run the machine five minutes, the hydraulic fluid started shooting out again.

My husband looked at it quickly this afternoon, between jobs, and said that the small hydraulic filter's seal had blown again.

This is the second time this has happened in less than 40 hours of usage.

The tractor currently has 199 hours on it total usage.

BTW, one thing I guess I should mention here -- the tractor has to be kept outdoors (no garage or barn available for it), and there have been alot of nights in the high teens, or early twenties lately. When I fired it up this morning, it was about 40 degrees outside, but it had been a cold night. I don't know if cold had anything to do with what happened or not, but I thought I'd mention that in case it was relevant.

Please help if you have any insight or knowledge that might help us.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. I forgot to mention, my husband only buys his stuff from the same New Holland dealer he bought the tractor from. That includes all his filters and even the hydraulic oil.

There are finally new, updated parts to replace the small hoses that repeatedly fail near the oil cooler. There is a 'cold weather' hydrostatic filter with a heavier base, housing and seal that will not fail. Your dealer's service dept should be able to identify the correct parts from service bulletins if the parts dept cannot.

Here is a thread on a TC40D blowing filter seals. Click Here
The thread is long. But answer is about 1/2 way down.
