So, no sh,,, there we were, Sinai, 85, bored out of our gourds, see the hydraulic tubing on the shelf, a box of nails and a convienient broom, and masking tape, Thread a blow gun into the hydraulic tube and make some darts, and you get some real power,,,, WEll, as boys will be boys, we are now shooting these through the walls of the hanger,,,,,,,,,,,,,(interior walls) The Flight platoon captain comes in (turns out his office is on the other side) and takes the guns and the darts from us......

Comes back in a little while later and says "I need more darts", boys will be boys after all.

We say, Sir, what you been shooting... he replies "liuetenants!" Just then lt. Wofford comes in holding his butt cheek with blood on his hand and flight suit.... "MAKE ME ONE OF THOSE THINGS!!!!!"

Life is good.

Hey guys I missed this earlier. I’ve been to busy throwing rocks at beaver while I wait for my tactical nuclear weapon order to be delivered.

Throwing darts are an option we missed the first time I think.

I haven’t bought anything as of yet. The original thread was very helpful for me though and I appreciate the input. Obviously it is a subject that does not have one answer and one that people have passionate options about. As one who did not know the difference between rim fire and center fire or how the different calibers related to each other there was a lot of good information. At least now I don’t look like as big of bone head when I talk to people at gun shops.

I’ll be sure to let you know how the nukes work out if you don’t see the mushroom cloud.;)

Hi!

My take on this is to go Military surplus. You can get some real horsepower in a cheap gun and not be too concerned if it gets wet or knocked about.

At the moment there are a ton of Mosin Nigant (spelling:confused: ) bolt action rifles on the market for as little as $80. They pack the whollop of a 30-06 and are reputed to be quite accurate. They shoot the same ammo as the Russians still use in their light maching guns. Surplus ammo is cheap.

They were used by half of Europe in WWII and perhaps WWI. They are strong, powerful, accurate and ugly. But what more do you want in a knock about farm gun??

Hi Again

Here is some more info on the Mosin-Nagant (got the spelling right this time:D )

Mosin-Nagant 91/30

This price is $74.99 but you have to have a Federal Firearms License to order from the internet.

Here is cheap ammo info - $37.40 for 440 rounds! Less than 10cents each.

7.62x54R Hungarian ammo, Heavy Ball Steel core, 440 rd tin.

Hope this presents an interesting option. :)

That's great, it even comes with a bayonett to poke them if you run out of ammo.
