Small tractor for gardening, Kubota? John Deere?

But don't rule out John Deere. They are also giveing many brands a run for their money.

Look at the 2210, and 4110-4115 if new, or even the 655-755 models for great used machines.

If you get competitve bids, often Deere comes out with some of the best pricing (kinda a regional thing.)

But a kubota BX, or B Or a NH TC24ish, Kioti CK20 are certainly great options

Why did you leave out the 4010 in your 4110-4115 category?

I'm thinking small as well... but as to a Kubota BX2230, or bx1500, or else a used John Deere 650- I'm in a quandary, currently. New and smaller, or old, used and cheaper, or middle sized (bx 2230). The 650 has no mid-mount PTO for a MMM, and no FEL.

I wonder if I'd rather get a new, small, bx1500 WITH all the attachments I'd like (MMM, FEL, tiller), or a bigger tractor WITHOUT those same attachments? Big decision, and one I plan to live with for a long, long time...

5 acres; some hilly, retirement 2 years away for full time land work- what do you guys think? I've made do with a JD garden tractor up til now, with an (old) Troy Bilt tiller, wagon to tow behind, and a hand pushed snow scoop. I'd like to upgrade, but how much?

When I retired here 4 1/2 years ago, I was thinking about getting a 4wd diesel tractor but was also thinking that a Gravely might do. Well, a Gravely with practically all the attachments almost fell into my arms. An ex-Gravely dealer in town had one advertised from a customer. I bought it and still have it, with snow blade, snow blower, sulky, cart, 30" bush hog/excellent mulching mower and MacKissic shredder. Was a bunch cheaper at $3,500 than a new diesel tractor (was thinking about a BX then). Later bought a rotary plow for it to do my big garden.

Recently bought a JD 4010 with FEL and LX4 cutter. A friend gave me his old soil ripper, which does about as good a job as a rototiller without pulverizing the soil. Have a TroyBilt shredder, plus the MacKissic one.

If you're really short of money, I'd seriously look at the BX1530. It's about the smallest with a FEL.

The main problem I had with the BX was the treadle peddle. Could get used to it if money was a problem.
