I just received my Small Wood Lot Tools 3 Point Log Skidder Attachment from Tom & I am very excited to get putting it to work!! Tom's customer service is second to none, he's readily available by phone & contacted after I purchased online (I ordered on a Friday) to apologize that it wouldn't ship until Monday! Great guy!

Here's a few photos I took having gotten it hooked up - now to put it into action!!

Congrats on your new skidding implement. Looks very interesting. Can't wait to see how you like it and how you use it.

They make woods work look awful easy in their neat video. Watching the video though I have one comment. Pulling those leaners like they did could be very bad news. Many time when you pull out leaners stuff up overhead breaks and falls and not just dead stuff. The trees are often tangled together and they don't come apart until something breaks. Being that close underneath is extremely dangerous. So be careful what you do. Work safe.

Looks like a set of log tongs made with flat stock. If it was on Shark Tank,"Mr. Wonderful" would be saying that anyone could duplicate that design. They call that leaning tangled up stuff-widow makers for a reason. Enjoy and be safe.

Wife and I were talking about my Wallenstein purchase the other day and she made the comment "how come you can't do that with the tractor now?" I didn't want to get into it about falling objects and how trees squish people dead, but that's a primary factor in my desire to drop the cash on that piece of equipment.

You can pull snags down with chain too, but you have to watch the tree, what it's doing to the other trees, and where you're driving when you do that. With a winch, you only have to watch the trees, and you can do it from a safe distance.

Skidding tongs are wonderful. I used them with my log arch and atv for a couple years before I got my tractor. You just can't be using them to free snags that close to the machine. It's not safe. Get a nice 20' chain, and get another nice 30'er too - hook 'em together and pull your snag down. Then go pick it off the ground with your tongs and drive off.

That's how you get crushed or bludgeoned to death. What if it hooked the stump and came forward over on you?

Thank you all for your insight. I honestly didn't factor its ability to pull down learners into my purchasing decision. I don't see myself using it in that manner - just for skidding & your feedback has helped solidify that view!

A buddyamine bought this unit early this year to help salvage all the blowdown ice storm damage in a relatively flat 65 year old douglas fir coast range forest. He is using it behind a 60hp older Case-IH farm tractor. The guy had phoned the maker, who came to my bud's place and demo'ed. Needless to say it was impressive for the application and the small investment. My friend is real happy with the purchase. It has its' limits and won't ever do the job of a Farmi type winch but it does a great job for him.
