smallest Deere with enough power?

According to the 2003 John Deere Equipment Purchasing Guide, a pretty weighty tome of approx 159 pages, the eHydro 4310 puts out 25.5 pto hp. The ePowerReverser 4410 puts out 30hp...I believe these are correct, anybody disagree?? Looks like the 4410 has 18% more stump pulling, bush hoggin', chipper, er chipping horsepower than a 4310. Am I figuring this right? Anybody disagree? The 4410 configured with the ePowerReverser is only a 600 dollar upgrade on a 4310 with eHydro..not a bad way to spend 600 bucks, if you want some inexpensive, real, seat of the pants type power. Are the real power numbers of these tractors shrouded in confusion /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and marketing double-speak /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif and laid out by a dyslexicy typesetter /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif? Your numbers seem right if the buyer doesn't want the eHydro transmission on the 4410. I prefer the eHydro which would make the 4310-4410 upgrade a lot more than $600, but hey everyone has their own opinion.

If you were just going to use a rotary mower or a winch or a tiller, etc., get a 4310 or a 4410. DO NOT run a baler with it. You will almost definitely destroy it. While it may be enough PTO, they are not rugged enough for that kind of use. Get a 5105 or 5205. You will find that for almost the same money, you can have a utilityy tractor designed for agricultural applications. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Equipped the same (comparing apples to apples) the 4410 will pump out around 11% more PTO hp. 27 vs 30. Cost for that 3 hp will be as already posted, around $1,400. Point being that IF you need 30 HP, the 4410 w/gear is not a bad way to go. Comparisons between the 4410 and 4310 rarely account for the standard ePowerReverser on the bigger tractor which is a $1,000.00 upcharge on the 4310. That is why there are so many bogus "4410 cost 3K more" posts floating around. Yes, that is technically true, but who buys a SyncShift 4310?

No one will argue with you that a 4410 isn't a great machine. On the other hand; Both are worhless to run a baler.

My 4310 does all I ask of it, and I got the loader and backhoe that I wanted. My wife uses it a lot, and with our hills I would not have considered not going HST.

You are right on the mark, the original poster didn't set a budget. and the 4410 is more powerful than the 4310, in he same size.

I know; I was dead set on a 4410, but when the budget kicked in, was thrilled with the 4310.

And if you really want the power to get to the ground, consider R1s.

Hi, I would suggest a JD 990. 40.4 engine hp and 35 pto hp. We used to bail hay with our 1070 (JD 328 bailer) and it worked fine and the 990 is the same tractor. Great machine for the money and cheaper than all the tractors mentioned and more power. I can't wait to get my 990. I should have it by the 30th. I currently have a 4300 and it has a lot of power but not enough for a bailer but works great with the 430 loader and turns really sharp. I would get a gear transmission for the durability factor. The new e hydros don't seem to be all that great. We have had a couple in the shop leaking oil. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Hello rockyridgefarm/all

Do you happen to remember a post or thread that lists the "correct" specs for the 4410. Considering the 4310 and 4410 eHydro. Leaning toward the 4410 but would like accurate
width and hight to compare with 4210 which I'm familiar with.
If all measurements are the same as 4310 I can use "Chinese Blueprint", down the road.

Unless I am way off...

The differances between the 4310 and 4410 are the 3 additional HP withthe corresponding torque. And the decals. The 4410 only comes MFWD, and no syncshift tranny.

The 4410 gets the boost from a differant block, not a tweaked injector pump, or something.

I think cef2lion just got a 4410 from a 4310 upgrade, and would be a good source for comparion info... If you trust the opinion of a Nittany Lion fan... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
