Well it happened, I got hurt using my tractor today. I was hooking up my lawn roller to the back of my BX and got my hand between the hitch on the roller and the back of my tractor. The roller is the kind used for riding lawn mowers so I hook it up to my BX using a hitch set up for three ball mounts. I just have 2 different sized balls on the hitch and hook the roller up to the open hole. I have the roller stored in a small garage and backed the BX to the door to hook it up. My problem was the roller wanted to hook to the tractor as it rolled off the lip of the garage. I could tell this when I went to hook it up and but was to lazy to either back up the tractor or pull it forward. When I went to hook it up it rolled off the slight lip of the garage floor and caught my hand between the roller and the hitch on the tractor. It halfed smashed it and half cut it. I should probably get stiches for it but its one of those cuts that kind of border line for stiches.

Lesson learned, make sure the implement you are hooking up doesn't have any stored energy in it that can hurt you and make sure you keep your hand free and out of the way.

At least it wasn't completely cut! When I was 16 I helped this guy jump his 35hp Oliver tractor battery using a Chevy 1500 truck parked nose to nose with the tractor. The guy was holding the tractor clutch in with his hand (I didn't realize this at the time) while standing beside it on the ground. He cranked the tractor and I stepped in between the tractor and truck with my left leg to reach and remove the cables. As soon as I stepped he engaged the clutch with the transmission in gear. It lurched forward, pinning my left leg between the truck bumper and tractor bumper. The tractor choked down and shut off with me pinned. He was completely panicked and was running around but I stayed calm and told him to get in the truck and back up. When he moved the gear shifter from Park to Reverse the truck eased forward slightly, pinching me further and causing some of the worst pain in my life for the few seconds it took to back up. When he moved the truck I thought every bone and muscle in my leg had been crushed because it felt like it was going to explode. It was very, very painful and all I could do was hobble around for a while until it eased off. I was too young and stupid to go to the hospital. Shortly thereafter when I got home my leg had literally turned black from my thigh down to my ankle. I kept the worst of it hid as best I could from my parents so they wouldn't pass out. It took a good three weeks before I could walk.

I caught my finger between the tongue of this trailer

and the tractor hitch one time a long time ago.
Lesson one I learned from that.
never put or get your hand and or fingers between the trailer tongue and the tractor hitch when hooking them up together.
