I recently purchased a MF 1020 standard for dirt cheap. Everything seems to run ok but the engine blows a light blue smoke out of the exhaust and from a tube coming from the valve cover. Is the tube some type of breather for the crankcase? I was thinking the rings were starting to go causing to much pressure in the crankcase. Just wondering if this is something I should worry about.

I also have a MF 146 (I think is the model) FEL that I am wanting to mount. Does anyone know where to purchase the bracket kit? And roughly how i would hook up the hydraulics? Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Mike

You don't indicate how many hours on the engine, so it would just be a guess but sounds like you may have some worn rings. I think you correctly identified the breather tube. Both the 1010 and 1020 have them according to my manual. I'm not a mechanic, but blue smoke is not normal. Some diesels smoke like that at start up, but if it's continuous, that's an indication of some wear. I'd just run it if I were you. I think you can still buy overhaul kits for them. I know you can get them for the 1010.

I think it is my rings and the blue smoke is coming from the blowby. Hopefully I can locate the parts to rebuild.
