Bobcat Ct225
Hello everyone,
To make a long story short, I overfilled the oil on my ct225 by about twice as much as normal....big mistake (Misprint in owner man.) I started the tractor and it started to smoke right away. I shut it down and checked the oils level sh#t!!! I drained off excess oil and started the tractor seemed ok. Smoked a bit but I expected this at first. Smoke cleared up and I attempted to drag my pasture with a rake. Undrer load the tractor smoked and lost power..... I am hesitant to call dealer...really dont want to explain this one.....any help would be helpful...the tractor only has 120hrs grrr pissed at myself

Here is what I would do. I'd take it to my shop, put a pan under it, and drain it. Pull the filter too. I'd leave the plug out over night. I would let it drain for 24 hours. Then, I'd try again, being careful not to over fill.

You got nothing to lose.

I did let it drain down for 5 days before attempting to run the tractor. I am worried I may have caused major damage. I am a gearhead but have only worked on gas motors before....not to familiar with diesel

You should call your dealer and get some advice.

Overfilled and operated, then finding lower power may indicate that you blew a seal or gasket somewhere.

I suspect you overwhelmed your crankcase breather on top of your
valve cover, sending oil into the intake. Check your air filters (both
of them).

Yes I bet the air filters are saturated with oil. Hopefully you didn't cause any gaskets to bulge from too much oil.

Drain all the oil, replace with the correct amount. Check air filters etc.

If it is a misprint I would point that out to the dealer, warranty work at least.

Yeah - I usaully think most people expect too much from the dealers and I think the dealers have a tough job but that is BS if you put in what the manual told you too. Sounds like you know what you are doing and this is their fault.

Thanks to everyone who has posted.
Update Time.......
The tractor is fine
When I made my long story short I did not say that it was my father that had actually put the tractor to work and complained of the smoke and loss of power. When I ran the tractor later it was fine...I believe that the tractor just burnt off the slight excess oil remaining and that the smoke alarmed my father...rightly so:laughing: I did check the air filters and they are great. I am going to address the misprint issue pronto!!!

Bobcat puts out a great product and I am very happy with the 225FEL and I have the Bobcat 2300 Utility vehicle with FEL and mower deck I love them:thumbsup:

Sure glad everything worked out for you. I can imagine the sick feeling you must have had when this happened, a person buys an expensive piece of equipment and wants to take the best care of it, thinking you are doing everything right and something goes wrong. I don't know why but I always take a look at the dip stick before starting any of my equipment after an oil change, then I start it and watch for leaks. Then I shut it down and let it sit a while, check the oil again and top off if needed.
