Smooth running problem

I have a tractor that ran great but started leaking compression in the cooling system. I replaced the head gasket and ever since the tractor is hard to start, smokes and runs real rough until about 5 minutes and then it smoothes out. The fuel system has been bled a dozen times so I think it can be air in the fuel. I What could be wrong?

the fuel system should have bleed by now unless you have a loose line.

do you have the capability to check compression?

If not, use a tool and loosen each injector line one at a time and listen to see if one injector line causes any less or more change to rpm / sound than the others.

if you find a line that causes less ro no change.. that cyl is dead.

Compression is 385 on all cylinders. Loosening injector pipes slow down on all cylinders. Had 450 lbs before head gasket change. Only 742 hours on tractor.

Are intake/exhaust valve clearances adjusted correctly??? Something is wrong for compression to be lower after R&R of head gasket

I have no way of knowing what the specs are. It's a Toyosha engine. If I closed them up a bit, would that help?

G'day is it possible that there are different head gaskets? It may be that you have been sold and fitted a thicker head gasket thus lowering compression giving you hard starting and rough running til the cylinder temps come up.
