Harrow over and over from different directions,than rake to fill in low areas also pile up rocks etc. for removal,than something like chain link fence to smooth.

Fresh information about the state of the field.

It's an old Orchard: The trees/stumps have been removed, but the remaining terrain has lumps/dips of up to 30cm / 1 foot - probably the result of pulling a few hundred tree-stumps.

There are a few stones, though nothing serious, and the soil is described as "good growing soil, not too sandy"

It does rather seem that a Disk harrow followed by chain fence/harrow to smooth it out would be a good plan....
