Snakes Worse Than Usual This Year?

My father hates snakes. Something to do with a childhood experience. A few years back he spotted one as he pulled out of his driveway. He threw the car in reverse to chase it down and run it over. He hit his mailbox, the snake got away.:D

Last year, my MIL spotted this snake on our gravel driveway. My wife was with her and saw it too. They both had the same reaction. PANIC!!!!

My MIL ran it over about six times. Back and forth until she figured it was dead. They were both terrified of it while sitting inside the car, but the both recognized it for what it was and how dangerous it could be if the kids came by on their bikes.

Just a quick followup, the neighbor who got bit by the copperhead Wednesday is doing OK. She said that on Wednesday morning there were 3 other snakebite victims at the small rural hospital. That is also the morning we killed a copperhead in the yard. Was Wednesday some kind of snake day?

I have only seen one little rough green snake this year on my place..he/she was trying to hitch a ride with me on the golf car, I didn't mind but my Jack Russell would have terrorized the tar out of him/she.
My mouse population must not be that bad for the mousers to show up.
Last year was one Copperhead, three Texas rat snakes, one Diamondback water snake, two rough green snakes, one speckeled king... and none of them were killed.

Here's a picture I posted here back in 2001. It's due for another viewing. When I pulled the brake drum off my old utility vehicle, I was sure surprised.

Snake in Brakes

Just a little speckeled King snake. Harmless to us..not to other snakes and anything else he/she sees appetizing.
