Snakes !!!

So, what are the King Brown's natural local enemies? (Aside from pipe wielding landowners) Especially check other snakes. There may be a variety that feeds on the young. There must be some natural predator, or the whole country would be overrun.

What a great idea, introduce some more snakes to get rid of the other snakes ???/w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif

I don't think our snakes have too many natural predators, but you must be right, they must have some.

I think some larger hawks and eagles etc. will catch them, but if the snake can kill a human I am not sure too many animals would survive the bite either.

Check pigs. The story around here is the place was pretty well infested with rattlesnakes. So, in some of the worst locations they penned up pigs. Seems the pigs fat protects them from the venom and the porkies really like to eat snake "al fresco". Lots of people keeping those "Pot Bellied" pigs as house pets you know. (Only in America)

Yeah some people have pigs for pets here too you know.

So this is maybe not a case of "Only in America" although that saying does come up a lot over here !

Yes I was interested in the snake eats snake thought, but yes it would have to be a real friendly bugger for me to invest in more of them. Maybe a snake eating snake that also keeps the lawn down would be good.

Maybe someone can cross a Pig with a Goat and I'd have a fat, snake eating lawn mower!!

Alright now we are getting somewhere!!

Saw this stuff too - not the "glue trap" on the link (cheaper than the other one), but the repellent. I have no clue if it works or not, but if it did, it might be a good alternative (bigger treatment area, no "cleanup") Maybe there's a "home brew" alternative too - Hmmm, sounds like more surfin' time......

they sell some snake repellant here, if you read the label, its mostly moth crystals, or whatever that stuff is made from...at one time we had the best snake killer around, its been so long i can't remember the name, it was one of the insecticides that was banned 15 years ago, maybe heptaclor or something like that; the fumes from the stuff was pretty deadly, to anything that crawled on the ground, including snakes..maybe someone can remember the name..it may still be available outside the US..

Heehaw is right on. Moth balls work great, at least on black snakes & garter snakes. I buy
a box & drop them around inside the shed or wherever they are. Believe me they really do
work. We always had snakes in our old shed & the moth balls did the trick. I cannot stand
snakes & every year I buy a box just to make sure they don't come back. Try it.
