I got the drive belt off and Compared it to the new one, The only difference I seen was ,The the new one was wider then the old one, could this have been the problem? Also I was wondering about a spring on the back tension pulley. It was hooked to a hole on the side of the mower in front of the back wheel. Was this spring put here by someone to put more tension on the belt ?or is it supposed to be on it ? If I can remember how the belt threads back on the tension pulley, I should have it back together tomorrow,Again thanks for all of y"alls help I never could have done it without y'all

Check the pulleys for free spinning , listen for rough bearings . Check , check and then re-check that the new belt is threaded onto the pulleys in the correct sequence or it will shred itself . When doing a job like this , make a sketch of how it is before removing . Take some picks also , it makes it a lot easier to reasemble .

I wished Had of made a sketch of the pulleys, all ready shredded the new belt, you wouldn't happen to know where a can get a diagram, of how it should be re thread,Here's some pics.Of how I have it on now. This is my second try. If I can get It the new shredded belt on right, then I can make a diagram. Go buy another belt and hopefully get it right this time. some of these pics. are with park brake on some with it off, Thanks again for y,alls help.

I think the only problem you had was that the drive belt needed adjustment. Snapper has a wonderful website with all manuals online. The operator's manual for your tractor is here. Scroll down to page 29 and the problem and drive belt tension adjustment is described (essentially, all you do is change the position of one idler pulley). I think if you print this manual out or read it online, you will be infinitely more qualified to fix your machine. Good luck.

BTW: You had good model info. All I did was go to Snapper's site and look under techinical documents using your model numbers.

Be sure you have the right belt. Snapper uses a lot of 6 sided belts on their equipment, that is possibly why the old belt looked thinner or why the new one shredded.

I went to the snapper web site ,and downloaded the opp. manual, It showed me everything about putting the drive belt back on, I went back with the new belt I had bought,That was the last one the parts store had,so instead of having them reorder one like they sold me.I have one on order From a snapper store, the napa belt might be as good or better,But since my old belt still had the part # on it . Im going back with it . BTW even with the buggered up belt it pulls much better. Thanks y,all for all the help I couldn't have done it with out . God bless y,all and I wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving
