you are probably right. I am going to try it in the morning. My cub cadet has a position on the ignition switch that bypasses this safety. thanks again for the heads up.

Your Cub is like my Craftsman 28HP rider, key switch has the PTO in reverse position. I had an older Cub without the reverse cut off safety.

I see that on the prints. do I have to follow that proceedure everytime I back up? or does that keep the snowblower engaged until I shut it off with the switch?

You have to lift the PTO switch every time before you back up or jam something under the switch to keep it lifted.

I had the same issue on my John Deere 345 GT. If you go onto You-Tube and state your issue - you should find 3 or 4 remedies whereby inserting a 4" long wire into the back of the switch that controls the PTO will bypass that feature.

Try a wood door shim just cut a notch in it so it will slide
under the knob etc

We used a wooden clothes pin to keep pto engaged on our 425.

Mx540 has a switch on the right side. When mowing or blowing snow when I lift that switch and start backing the implement keeps working
