Got 3 or so inches of our first snow in Central Missouri this morning! What a ride to work... typical 25 mins drive turned into 2 hrs. Its still snowing, now I wish i stayed home, then I'd be playing on the tractor and earning some $! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Sorry no pictures, I left the camera off at my inlaws for a week.

Had to use 4wd all the way, roads covered white...
Let it snow snow snow haha (ok i'm demented)
Around here we don't get those big ones like Michigan, Minnesota, and northern England states....

Did anyone else get any snow this morning?

Btw: Is anyone else from Missouri on TBN?

John

I live 30 minutes southwest of the capital, had 2 inches at 6:00. Work in the capital city, have a couple of inches here, looks like. Took an hour to get to work, didn't need four wheel drive until just outside the city. Traffic was backed way up out there due to the hills.

All of my family is back around Cape Girardeau, and this morning they had about 5 inches, according to my sister. No plows on the road as of 9 am, and the white stuff was still coming down. It's times like these that my daughter really wishes we hadn't moved to Central Texas!/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

We just got a dusting in Columbia, but I'm sure some folks have managed to hit the ditches anyway.

Got freezing rain in north eastern Arkansas. Trees took a major beating but the roads are fine until it freezes again tonight. The weatherman says more is on the way...

Another limb just broke... Probably be a long night of popping...

We're 45 minutes NW of St. Louis and just got a dusting. 15 minutes south of us got about an inch or so. St. Louis City got 3-1/2 inches. Down I-55 further, I think they got hammered (well for Missouri snows anyway!). I plow snow as a sub-contractor for a local "city". Kinda glad we were not called out. My truck's not ready! Snow and ice sure do bring out the stupidity in people! It's kinda funny. I work 18 miles from home. All back country roads. Usually takes about 30 minutes. Yesterday, it took me about 40 minutes. No salt trucks out then, but roads were dangerous. People in the office just have to take I-70 to work. Normally a 10 minutes drive for them lasted 1-1/2 hours! They couldn't get out of their subdivisions, traffic was backed up, blah, blah, blah. I love living in the country.

I hear ya, I had to make a service call last night. The roads were ok, bridges were icey; I'm pokin along somewhere near the speed limit and a yukon/tahoe/whatever is riding my behind. I coast over a bridge as not to upset me or the truck and see some headlights whipping around in my rearview.
Apparently, they didn't think the bridge would ice.
Didn't ride me anymore.

Got about 2 feet of snow Sunday night/Monday morning. Wasn't quite ready for it so it took a while to get it cleared.

Icy road conditions in Houston are a nightmare. The city is not prepared to deal with icy situations and the drivers act like they left all their common sense at home!

Three years ago in January we had a bad ice storm (by Houston standards) which iced up all the roads, causing a lot of bridges to be shut down while waiting on sand to be spread on them. I was trying to get home after day shift and made it almost all the way home before discovering the bridge over the ship channel had been closed. So I turned around and headed back towards Houston and discovered the beltway bridge over the channel was not only open but had a fresh layer of sand spread on it. "This is great!" I thought. I crept up the bridge with no problems only to make a horrible discovery once I reached the top. The downside lanes had not been sanded and the road was totally iced up! I crept at probably one mph behind a brand new truck down that slippery slope. At one point the truck in front of me lost traction and slid, as if viewed in slow motion, into the concrete divider. Once he bumped it he straightened back out and onward and downward we went. It took about 30 minutes to get down that bridge. I saw headlights behind me on the top of the bridge but they did not follow me down. The next day it was on the news that several motorists were standed on that bridge for several hours! Seems I was the last one to make it down!

I headed on home on I-10 east but traffic was shut down again at the San Jacinto river bridge. Same problem, no sand on the bridge and it was iced up big time. Traffic was at a standstill for almost an hour before a truck arrived and sanded the lanes. In the meantime, I got bored with sitting in my truck so I opened the door to get out and stretch my legs... as soon as my feet touched the ground my feet went out from under me and I busted my butt on the icy pavement. I got up and looked around and kinda waved my hand as though to say "I meant to do that!" I ain't gonna say it hurt when I fell but I landed on my wallet and the next day I had a bruise on my butt in the exact rectangular shape as my wallet!/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif

By the time I got home it was over two hours later and my wife was frantic. Next time I told her I would just stay put before I ever ventured out into icy conditions like that again!
