Snow Equipment Owning/Operating snow is coming!

I'm so excited for this seasons snow!! It's going to be a good year in Washington state. Some are already getting snow. We had it snow here a couple of weeks ago, nothing big. Plowing is around the corner.

Thomas, did not get any snow to speak of, just a few flurries, spent most of today cleaning up after the wind storm of the last few days. just got part of the yard cleaned, will leave the blowdowns in the woods till next summer. actually it is the blowdowns that fell across my clear cuts. the stuff in the woods , mother nature can take care of /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Snow isn't coming. It is here. I had 70 MPH winds and 8 inches of snow here on last Thurs and Friday. It caught me completely unaware and unprepared. FEL still in place, snowblower under a tarp 100 untravelable feet away from the tractor. It is raining now and the forecast is for highs in the low 50's all week. Most of the snow is gone and only mud remains. Hopefully, we will have a few snowless but freezing days to firm up the ground so that I can have an orderly transition to winter. However, it sure was a wake up call. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Around these parts snow is a very bad four letter word. I will probably mount my snowblower and salter and set out the driveway stakes around the first of December. I would be quite happy if the snowblower never gets used but I know that that will not be the case - but later rather than sooner is preferable. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

The driveway markers are already in the ground. The Woods 72" snowblower sits on a moveable dolly in the pole barn ready and waiting for active duty.

BRL you must have anti-freeze running in your blood. I was born and raised in Ohio worked in the heating business for 38 years but I still can't get used to the cold. I don't hate it but it sure isn't my favorite time of the year either.

Each to his own though as I always appreciate different ideas and thoughts.

Wildlife are like butter balls,small ponds are still ice over..early this year,some places the ground still frozen w/snow,hand snowblowers are selling like hot cakes,Cat put herself in low range,Mrs. has put yet another blanket on the bed,drinking more coffee. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif..just hope I'm wrong and the Green Mountain Range acts like a buffer. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I LOVE snow! I am a skier and can't STAND seeing snow melted in our mountains, which is happening right now. But the snow level will drop and lots of snow will fall. I wish we had snow like the mountains, I'd be plowing like nuts. But that isn't the case right now.

falconry..you should ask Derek from VT to send you some pics from couple winters back,which will show the type of snow plowing he faces /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif..snow difts height of basketball net & house bury be on the first floor & so much snow his dual tire wrecker w/plow couldn't push back the backs had to get heavy equipment..talk about gas and go plus living on coffee. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Oh AWESOME! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Now, if I had that much snow, I'd buy a wheel loader. Which I will probably do when I get to that, put a plow on it and stuff.
