JJ....................you win :D And keep that out there, please. :)

Heheheheh. This is a mild winter too. Just got dumped on day after day after day, It never quit for 3 weeks. At the time of the pics we had 4.5' in the fields, since then we have had a warm spell, now have 3'. Snow came so fast that our county lost hay sheds, 3 spud cellars, machine shop, and storage sheds full of campers and classic cars due to the heavy loads.

That is unbelievible JJ. And JDKid I figure your gettin hammered with Lake effect snow. Makes my tranqual , meger 3-4 inches of dry fluffy stuff almost an insult to you guys. We get a big one about once a year. Presidents day of 05, I think we got well over 2 feet. I thought I'd get a few more pics with my new camera and some video. I had hoped to post the video so folks in the south could see a soft snowfall but I couldn't upload it. It was to large of a file. It looks like both of you have some equipment to handle the snow. Thanks for posting. When my better halve complains in the morning I'll show her what she could be faced with.

We have had a decent winter here so far. The ski resort about 4 miles away ( Idaho Ski Resorts :: Brundage Mountain Resort :: McCall, Idaho )has recorded nearly 350 inches of snow fall this year already. My blower is running out of room to throw the snow.

A few pics to show the fun we have been having here. The first two are me almost rolling the JD3520 off my road. The snow was so deep, I couldn't see the edge well enough at 5:00 am. There is a road straight below mine with a four foot straight drop. Luckily the snow bank broke but managed to hold me up.

Next two pics are of a big loader that got stuck in a drift. Then one of my house. The bottom door and under the deck is where the ground usually is. The bank is about 20 ft. tall there and the blower has trouble getting over the top. Plus, there is another two feet of snow on the roof yet to drop onto the pile.

No snow now for over a week, so I have been able to clean up a little and move some piles back before the next storm comes.

Here is a picture of an escavator that went off a narrow bridge while trying to pull out a logging skidder, yes the skidder is beneath the escavator.

write up in local paper:

CROYDON, N.H. -- A logging skidder driver had to pull himself out of the vehicle when it flipped off a bridge into an icy river in Croydon on Tuesday.

An excavator sent to retrieve the skidder also slid off the bridge, landing on top of the vehicle it was trying to pull out.

"I was there and saw it happen," said Andy Chamberlain, safety manager for United Construction. "I couldn't believe it. I said, 'This can't be right.'"

A skidder is a machine that pulls cut trees out of a forest. The skidder was working on property near Route 10 when it slipped on the narrow, ice-packed bridge, landing in the frigid water of the Sugar River.

The driver, Arthur Cutter, 42, kicked out a door and broke through ice to escape. He was treated for hypothermia and a concussion.

Witnesses said they were surprised when the excavator trying to retrieve the skidder also dropped into the river.

"You don't expect it, and all of a sudden, you see this machine going across, and all of a sudden, it's in the water," Chamberlain said.

With two big pieces of equipment in the water, an even bigger crane is needed to lift them, workers said. United Construction hoped to have one at the site Wednesday morning, but it hadn't arrived.

While workers waited, another excavator cleared space for the next piece of equipment.

"They lost a lot of money," retired logger George Caron said. "It's hard to get back in operation again. That shredder's going to be all torn apart."

Caron said the road has been used for years, but as equipment got bigger, the bridge never did.

"Tractor trailers go here and haul out chips," he said. "It really is too narrow for them, too. I don't know how they make it. I'd never do it."

Workers said the crane should arrive later Wednesday night or early Thursday morning to haul both vehicles out of the water.

Hi Rob, I will keep an eye on the story and if they post pictures I will post them. To think the skidder buy was able to kick his way out and get out safely. Guess he was like ten feet under water.

I work in Fulton NY and this year the city department of works building caved in with some plow trucks, big snowblowers and garbage trucks inside.
Last year was our year for snow all in a week (Oswego County). We were on the national news for it. But it is like that every year for us just not that quick. We had barns and houses caving in all over the place.
