GT2542 , broken YardKing
I have completed the retrofit of my old snow plow to the GT2542. It’s a rear hitch pin mount with a front bracket to limit side to side movement. I fabricated a front plate for the old hanger to mount on, and stiffened up the rear hitch pin bracket with a welded bracket to a rear bumper fashioned from a front bumper. The front support was spaced off the 3 hole pattern on the frame with ½ inch spacers to clear the front release for the deck. To get enough lift for the blade channel, I remove the PTO pulleys. The blade lift uses the deck lift system. Both the front support bracket and the rear bumper can remain on the tractor at all times. BTW the tractor needed a rear bumper (I almost backed into a tree the other day.) There is available for the GT2542 a rear hitch pin support as part of the rear bagger package, but my bumper and support system has class as well as better protection. One point of interest, the frame for the front bumper has slots centered on 5 inches, and at the rear, centered on 4 inches, but the bumper is drilled on 4 and ¾ centers…..go figure? The best part was I only spent $100 total rather than $600 for a new CC plow. If anyone wants more info email me.

Nice job! Looks like you can really do some fab work there.
Great to hear you beat CC with the cost as well.

Thanks, but let me explain. We have a good custom metal shop close by and he likes helping out the locals. The front flat plate and the bent rear support bracket only cost $30. The other $70 was for the purchase of a 2nd bumper. I did the design, painting and installation, and SIL did the welding (he’s a 4W 70s bronco guy.) CC wanted over $600 for ½ the metal in their plow for the GT2542. Now I’m waiting for snow to use it…..just kidding. I tried it out on a dirt pile and it works very well. The other issue with the CC blade is that its only 42 inches wide where my old blade is 46 inches. Also, we retired types get to play easier. Already started on experiments with the next project, getting a better grass cut from the deck and finding a 2nd 12V power source for the hour meter that won’t power the meter when the key is left on.
