Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Snow plowed for the third time in three days

/ Snow plowed for the third time in three days #21
Darryl.

We are less than a 1/2 mile to the ocean with 90MPH winds and lost power for 3 days and have 10+ trees down and one on my garage/office..

Tried to lift up with the Kubota - no go.. This is after we removed 12 trees around the house 4 years ago... All pines need to go is my wife's statement.. I am beginning to hate pine trees too.

Whoa...Is this a current picture? Tree still on your roof?

Without a crane, I'd be thinking ropes, pulleys and chains. (Full size) Backhoe arm under and dozer or truck on the other end of the chains to lift and swing. Just be VERY CAREFUL of that rootball. It's your counterweight so can't cut it off yet, but likely to whip the tree if you pull it too far.

Good luck with it. I think your tractor is overmatched for this job :(

Jeez, that's a good predicament. Too bad it is resting right on the peak. I have no clue how I would go about getting that off without chancing more damage. Looks like it didn't go through the peak, hope nothing cracked under the tree.

Let us know how it was removed please.
Dave.

Trees should be at least the length of the height from a building.

Hi Guys,

LE Brown - we get to choose where we live, but can't control the environment, but we can cut down trees! The issue is we took out the BIG pines over the years and then trimmed up the remaining trees of all dead wood - these are the little ones 18" butt. As you see there is no dead wood otherwise we would have holes in the roof. Agree, your statement make sense and I agree.

Thomas - Thanks - yes we had a hotdog and marshmallow roast last weekend - a good 30' pile (from previous storms) made for a real hot fire - we can burn here with snow cover so had a good time. There will be another one in the near future.. No chipper in the immediate future - looking at an excavator - my B21 is a nice TLB but..

DiskDr / Dave- this is a pro job - yes the tree is still on the roof - coming off on Monday - with a boom truck and insured tree guys - I will assist once they get the crown cut off to lift off the peak - we expect the stump to spring back and then we will cut the rest. The damage inside is drywall in the peak, and probably some plywood and shingle patching to do once the tree comes off.

Darryl - well we have a lot less pines than we did before, and the last 5 years had the highest winds on the NH coast - they say one of those 100 yr storms - but they are coming more frequently now - like every 5 years.. Thanks Al Gore!

The tree on the garage is the easy one, the others are leaners and hung up, one 20' off the ground in an Oak and the others are notched into other pines and hard to access - so these are the real devils to cut down - this is not my profession, yea, I can cut trees down but I prefer to keep doing what I do, and be the "supporting cast" on the ground hauling the material to the chipper/log pile.

Thanks for all your replies and support ,

Carl
