Snow Snow plows that attach to the FEL

I have a FEL mounted plow purchased from Quick Attach, and when i plow i leave it on float mode, and set it level with the level indicator. If you tilt it too far, the FEL mount will dig into the ground. It works amazingly well.

When i first used it i did not chain up the tires to see how it did. with R4 tires it SUCKED.

I chained up the back only and tried. It did alot better. did not skip on the ground any more. Problem was when i turned the plow to 30-45 degree to push snow to side. this forced the tractor in the opposite direction (crabbing).

So i chained up the front also. Now no matter what or how i plow, the tractor goes where i direct it.

The front plow is 2-3 times faster moving snow than my loader mounted blower. I also opted for the swinging side gates for both sides. this way, when the plow is sloped to one side, excess snow doesnt slough off to the side. I can also close both gates and it becomes a snow push blade.

Two years ago I was able to find a Meyer's 7.5 pl;ow already mounted to a Q/A plate on Craigslist for just $400. I had to replace one hydraulic angling cylinder that year ($65), and last year I had to replace the pivot pins. ($200) They had to be cut out by local welding shop - That also reinforced the Q/A plate for me.

I hook the plow hydraulics into the same lines I use for my 4 in 1 bucket. Works like a charm.

I'm lucky that I have a large drop off at the edge of my driveway so it's easy to push the snow off. My tires are loaded, and I never seem to have any traction issues. I do leave my back hoe on for added weight.

My biggest issue is getting on the tractor to plow before my wife. She loves to plow snow.

If you use a chain to float the blade as on a plow truck, the weight of the fel will be on the front tires to aid in steering and traction.

I learned to like the plow way out front, it allows me to push a snowbank into a ditch or gully.
