Rusty, I've tried frying screws, but somehow I've always screwed it up. Baking does work well, and there is no need for added oils.

I like to fry the small…. oops
I was just looking at them, google screw in tire ice studs, they all seem pretty much the same, just different lengths. All seem to be about a buck each for the inch long version for an ag tire. A friend used them last year in his tractor that does a lot of "roading" between customers on his plow route. His comments were that they were a decent alternate to tire chains and while not the same traction, they rode nice. He pulled them at the end of the season and I need to talk to him about how they wore and if he lost any.
The reason I mention them is I really scarred a neighbors driveway (tire chains x4) with my Skid steer in just a little snow. It was with a very large SS but a scar is a scar. With the studs, you could screw in what you estimate to be the bare minimum, and add to it until you find a happy medium between traction & surface damage or scarring. Give them a FRY, I think I'm going to fry them on the front of my fractor:laughing:
