If it's an HST and has a DPF run full throttle. Here's my take on it, the higher heat and flow help the DPF and the higher the RPM the less of an angle the swash plate is in the HST (less wear). Just what I have found with our machines and talking with people.

It must sound like it's going to blow up though! LOL When I get it up to 2400 RPM it sounds like it's running so dam fast. I'm just not use to running a tractor engine that fast. I guess. It won't hurt it to keep it up there?

For PTO work and getting the PTO up to 540 it has an arrow that is right up by 2500. I guess I better get use to it.

Using my new Mahindra 3550 4X4 HST for snow removal. View attachment 498671

Wondering what you folks who use hydrastatuc tractors generally run your RPMs at. I have been adjusting and getting use to the HST. Recently settled on about 1500 RPMs in Medium gear range.

Any other snow practice or tips with just using a bucket from anyone would be appreciated. I have done it with several different machines but always looking to learn. Thanks.
I never realized how tough it was to move snow with a dirt bucket until I got a plow. I wish I had a V-Plow so I would be a better snow pusher. If I had a high horsepower tractor, I'd want a V-plow on the FEL and a Snow blower on the back end, with an HVAC CAB, power shutte, or 3 X 2 HST Plus. Oh, and a wife, Young-en , or friend who liked to plow snow.
Just Blew a hydraulic hose, The Largest Kubota dealer in the state charged $123.18 for the hose from a the quick connect to the valve block for the plow angle. That's what you get for being in a hurry and not going to a hose shop.

I usually try to run 10-20% over peak torque, so a challenge has some room. If you know its solid--a little higher. Every snowpack is a little different, then keeps maturing. I find a little curl and lift on impact can shear off nice chunks that have the potential of rolling away, where slow and steady rarely breaks a mass loose. I work downhill if I'm able so I can curl my way back out, and attempt to bank opposite the prevailing wind (north here) to keep drifts off the roadway. I take time to clean the way into a bank so getting out doesn't become half the job. Sometimes if you can break into the virgin snow you can get a good push to make a new dump area. Once the push areas and dump height are maxed out--pray for better weather!
