Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Snow surfing on a tractor

In one of the earlier threads one criticism of the Kubota BX (a small SCUT with 12 inch front wheels) was that it can't go through deep snow.

None of the BXs have 12'' wheel that I know of.
They all have either 16 or 18 inch front wheels and 24 or 26 inch rear wheels.

I measured the front wheels. Right you are. From the floor to the top of the wheel 16 inches.

It was relitivly common on older 2 wd farm tractors to run half tracks. A buldozer type track around the rear wheel then around a additional small wheel centered between the front and back wheels of the tractor. This was great for getting around in the snow. I have often wondered how a CUT fitted with them would perform.

I saw a 9N/2N/8N? set up like that in Wakefield, NH a few years back. Wish I took pics.
