We received 19" of snow yesterday, another 4-5" overnight and it is still snowing. I live in the pines and have lost about eight trees due to wet heavy snow. One large branch destroyed part of my 3 rail post and dowel fence.

The tops, 2 of one tree fell right in front of my front door/porch, blocked the steps where we take the dog out. To make matters worse my tractor is at my son's house where I have been grading a new house for my other son. Two trees split off and blocked my driveway, what a mess. This is April, spring and the weatherman never predicted this. Welcome to Colorado.

Always seems that the trees come down on the fence. Had some dead trees cut down our driveway this past fall and of course this winter one further in the bush came down across the driveway and the top 3 feet  of the tree hit the wire fence and knocked it down to the ground. After a mild winter I look out the window this morning and see fresh snow up in the hills, best place for it. Guessing a bit of chainsaw time will have your trees cut up for firewood. :D

I already used the chainsaw to clear the limbs from in front of the porch. Then cleared the one from the drive so that I could get my truck out. Once this melts, dries a little I will go out in earnest and cut up everything.

I feel your pain Mike. We had 14 inches of really wet snow Dec 19 09 and it snapped off 11 pine trees and snapped or uprooted 7 hardwoods. I just finished cleaning up a few weeks ago. I've been here since 74 and have never had a more damaging snow storm. I am still thanking the Lord none of my buildings were damaged.

On the bright side I have a lot of firewood stacked already.

I too did not get any buildings hit, that's the good news. Two years ago we had a storm like this and I lost 10 trees that time. I guess that is the cost of living in the pines.

I don't have the black fly issue, but with a cab tractor it wouldn't be a problem.

Please keep that stuff out that way. :p

Don't want any more here.

You will probably get rain, I wouldn't wish this snow on anyone.

The saleman at the JD dealer I have known for 15 years, said the next time I had trees down he would come over with his chainsaw and help clear. He wants all the wood, I don't have a wood burning fireplace.

Welcome to Colorado.

I hear you. We're just a little southeast of Denver on the Palmer Divide. I think we got about 16" of wet, gooey snow between friday and yesterday. I don't dare try to plow it cause just the tractor tires alone would tear up the soggy driveway. That's ok though, cause it's supposed to be sunny and 50 degrees today with a chance for more snow tonight. Welcome to Colorado. :confused2:

Sounds like you and I are neighbors. I live just East of Monument off 105, one block East of Roller Coaster Rd.

Yup. Just a touch northwest of Elizabeth.

It's good to see some Colorado representation here on the board. mjncad is out here somewhere too. His posts always have a good signal to noise ratio.
