I put the snowblower together today. Assembly was straight forward and took 4 hours. (Most of the time was spent cutting the PTO shaft).

DIYGuy looking good! I'll bet you can't wait for a heavy snow. Have fun with that blower, remember don't push snow into the wind, it bites.

I got it from Bolton Power Equipement in MA. The unit is by JRW in Norwich, Ontario.

Here's the snowblower in operation. The nor'easter has given me the opportunity to test it out. It took 45 minutes to clear my driveway. It used to take 2.5 hours with my old walk behind blower.

The blower is a little wider than the tractor so that the tractor can push it on solid footing. Even with the steep drive, 4wd worked just fine with turfs, no need for chains in my application.

Snowblower in Operation!

Here's the 2nd picture. At the top of the driveway, It takes a right angle turn to the house. The arc of snow depends on two things, the wieght of the snow and the chute angle. This snow is pretty light, so it doesn't go very far, about 30'.

I also had a chance to try out my new blower(a Pronovost Puma 54"). What a relief from the old walk behind. It used to take 3.5+ hrs to clean up after a big storm. This morning I was done in an hr. I went thru big drifts easily. The biggest problem was paying attention to the wind. This blower moves ALOT more snow than my walk behind. So, if it gets blown back on you...well lets just say its no fun. HOWEVER, Im glad I have it. Also used the FEL to push/dump...that worked OK too...although it was slow.

As for handling, the tractor (w/ R4s) did really well in 4WD even on the steep descent/ascent to the compost heap. I doubt it will do so well if we get rain which freezes in puddles (we're supposed to get rain later this week followed by cold temps). Im planning to order chains this week.

My setup allows me to leave the blower on which Im going to do unless we get a long run of warm weather (not likely).

One more thing...this blower throws the snow well away from the tractor into the middel of the yard. My walk behind didnt and by the end of a very snowy winter I had tall berms around the edges of the drive.

Looks great. I also bought a JRW blower this year. I am interested in finding an owner/operators manual. Do you have any leads?

I also had a great opportunity to try my new blower, a Blizzard by RAD, 64" & I love it.
I have always used a walk behind so I'm used to getting snow down my neck but the time needed to get the job done was amazing! I was wishing I had more to do! I'm sure that will wear off at some point.

I just bought a 78" S-65 JRW snowblower. I have a copy of the book that came with it, but it is 2.3mb. It doesn't have much information, but if anyone wants it, email and I'll send it to you as an attachment. They have changed their design now and are built more on the lines of Provonost Puma's.
