- John Deere 2305
Hi All,
I just purchased my first tractor, a lightly used(430 hours) John Deere 2035 with FEL. I've been lurking and learning on this site for the past few weeks, and figured I would seek the advice of those smarter than me
My main motive to buy the tractor was clearing my driveway in the winter. It is replacing my old plow truck. My plan is to buy a rear-mount 3pt blower, and be able to use the FEL at the same time to clear away from garage doors and move plow banks if needed. The county always waits until about 17 minutes after I clear my driveway to go by and fill the end back in with a frozen mountain of snow, and the FEL will be perfect to scoop that out.
I have been looking at various blowers on the market, and the Nortrac blowers sold by Northern Tool caught my eye. As with everything, there are good reviews, and not so good reviews online, but the majority seem to be good. However, there are two 50 inch models available that could possibly work on my tractor.
1. NorTrac 3-Pt. Snow Blower - 50in.W Intake, 18-32 HP Rating, Model# BE-SBS50GL -- $1,500 on Ebay right now, with $253.00 shipping($1,753 total)
2. NorTrac 3-Pt. Snow Blower 50in.W Intake, Fits Tractors from 16 HP to 30 HP, Model# BE-SBS50G -- $1,729 at Northern Tool, with $342.00 shipping ($2,071 total)
My question is, would the JD2305 be able to handle the 18-32HP rated one? The tractor's PTO is rated right at 18HP, and I wonder if it would struggle with the larger one. As I said, This is my first tractor, and I have zero experience with any attachments. I don't want to end up with something that will overly strain the tractor, and/or not be able to do the job properly. I live in Northern MN, and we usually have a lot of snow to clear.
Also willing to take a look at other brands/models of blowers as well, if some of you have recommendations.
Thanks!
